Latest update: October 23, 2026 · Following the October 22 community meeting

We are entering the next stage of the fiber rollout: preparing individual home connections and the steps toward activation in selected areas of White Rock. Construction continues, while connection teams coordinate the property visits and outside work needed before service can be turned on.

From construction to activation

At our October 22 community meeting, Bonfire said crews were working in White Rock. First activations were described as possible in December 2026, with January 2027 more likely. Those are planning estimates, not installation appointments or guaranteed dates for individual homes.

Los Alamos Phase 1 crews were expected later in 2026 or early in 2027. The meeting did not confirm December or January activation dates specifically for Los Alamos homes. LANet’s existing fiber network and its own upgrades have a separate schedule from the County’s Atomic Fiber build.

What happens at your home

  1. Address review: We confirm the information and next steps for your exact home or unit.
  2. Property survey: Atomic Fiber contacts you to arrange a visit and discuss the route, entry point and indoor fiber equipment location. Share irrigation, landscaping, driveway, gate and access concerns.
  3. Outside connection: Crews arrange utility locates and prepare the fiber drop. Bonfire described before-and-after photographs and restoring affected areas as close as possible to their earlier condition.
  4. Installation and testing: Once the connection is ready, LANet coordinates your activation appointment, connects the router and tests the service. The indoor ONT needs power. Keep your current internet until the new connection is working.

Outside work and final activation can be separate appointments. Nearby construction does not confirm that your address is ready. The route, construction method and equipment setup need an individual review.

More ways to stay connected

The County reported that the San Ildefonso fiber route was built and tested, with a long-term agreement, Council approval and connection work still remaining before it could enter service. LANet also discussed a REDINet wireless path and Starlink capacity for emergency connectivity. Shared emergency backup is intended for essential use; it does not guarantee normal fiber speeds or uninterrupted service. Read our backup guide for the different layers and equipment options.

Already pre-signed up? You do not need to submit the same request again. Free pre-signup records interest; it does not book an installation or guarantee a queue position. We will coordinate the next steps as your address becomes ready.
