LANet’s Fiber Expansion: Downtown, Apartments, Hawks Landing and Quemazon

Updated October 23, 2026, following the October 22 community meeting.

We are expanding our own fiber network and connecting customers through Atomic Fiber as the phased build progresses. Here is what we are planning.

Downtown

Fiber speeds up to 10 Gbps are available at eligible locations on LANet’s existing network. We will check your exact address and equipment.

Apartments

Participating apartment properties can move from wireless to fiber as their buildings and connections become ready. Check availability for your unit.

Hawks Landing

Our planning target for a single-mode fiber upgrade is spring 2027. The upgrade is intended to support multi-gigabit service.

Quemazon

LANet’s planning target for a single-mode fiber upgrade and connection readiness is summer–fall 2027.

Atomic Fiber construction

At the October 22 meeting, Bonfire reported crews working in White Rock. Los Alamos Phase 1 crews were expected later in 2026 or early 2027. First activations were described as possible in December 2026, more likely January 2027; the meeting did not confirm those dates specifically for Los Alamos homes. Construction and activation are separate steps, and address readiness must be confirmed.

Dates and next steps

These are planning targets shared for the October 22 update, not confirmed installation dates. LANet’s own upgrades and the County’s Atomic Fiber phases have separate schedules. Check your address for the next steps.
