Phase 1 White Rock Update: First 149 Addresses Targeted for Mid-December

Atomic Fiber construction is progressing in White Rock, with the first 149 Phase 1 addresses targeted for service around mid-December. Learn what happens next and what customers can expect before activation.

Phase 1 White Rock Fiber Construction Update

Construction is moving forward on Phase 1 of the Atomic Fiber network in White Rock. LANet recently met with the Bonfire team to review construction progress, the current projected schedule, and what customers can expect as their homes get closer to activation.

Current projected schedule

Based on the latest information provided by Bonfire:

  • The first service area includes approximately 149 White Rock addresses.

  • This first area is currently projected to be ready around mid-December.

  • A second area is expected shortly after the beginning of January.

  • A third area is projected for the middle to latter part of January.

These dates are estimates. Construction progress, network testing, weather, utility conflicts, and completion of the main network connection could affect the schedule.

LANet will continue meeting with Bonfire and publishing updated information as it becomes available.

What happens before your fiber is activated?

Bonfire plans to begin preparing individual properties approximately 15 to 45 days before each neighborhood fiber distribution area becomes serviceable.

Customers may notice several steps taking place:

  1. Utility locating: New Mexico 811 will identify existing utilities. Paint or small flags may temporarily appear near the property.

  2. Fiber conduit installation: A contractor will install a small underground conduit from the neighborhood fiber connection to the utility side of the home. This conduit will generally be installed approximately six inches underground.

  3. Fiber drop preparation: Bonfire will photograph the area before and after completing the work. In most cases, the customer will not need to be home for this part of the process.

  4. Final activation: Once the neighborhood network and the individual fiber connection are ready, LANet will contact the customer to schedule an activation appointment.

Where will the fiber enter the home?

The exterior fiber connection will normally be installed on the same side of the house where the other utilities enter.

During the final appointment, the installation team can route ruggedized fiber around or under the house when another entry location is preferred.

Customers should let LANet know in advance about:

  • Private sprinkler or irrigation lines

  • Locked gates

  • Landscaping concerns

  • Pets in the yard

  • A preferred route or entry point

  • Any other special property conditions

If a customized underground route is requested, an additional site survey may be necessary.

What happens during the activation appointment?

The final activation appointment is expected to take approximately one to two hours, and an adult will need to be home.

During this appointment, the technicians will:

  • Complete and activate the fiber connection

  • Bring the service into the home

  • Install the LANet-managed router

  • Test the connection

  • Confirm that the customer is online

LANet and Bonfire are coordinating the process so the fiber connection and LANet equipment can be completed as efficiently as possible.

Should I cancel my current internet service?

Please do not cancel your existing internet service until LANet has confirmed your activation appointment and your new fiber connection is working.

Existing LANet wireless customers will continue receiving their current service while waiting for fiber to reach their address. LANet will contact customers individually when it is time to transition.

Have you already submitted your information?

LANet is tracking current customers and new households that have expressed interest in Atomic Fiber. If you have already completed our fiber interest form, you remain on our list.

Submitting an interest form does not mean your installation has been scheduled. We will contact you when construction reaches your area and we have more specific information for your address.

Stay informed

We understand that customers need reliable information so they can plan for the transition. LANet will continue working directly with Bonfire to provide construction updates, projected timelines, and installation instructions.
